Consider the coastal BC forester who wishes to use a seed tree system in a dry second-growth Douglas-fir stand on southeastern Vancouver Island. With appropriate site preparation she will rely on the seed trees to naturally restock the block. However, she would like to retain the seed trees, or a certain proportion of them, for the rest of the rotation to satisfy some non-timber objectives.
